The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) is a modern organization, but it provides a powerful human need: a home.
Part of a brand of global charities, the Corpus Christi RMH provides families of seriously-ill or injured children a place to stay at little or no cost. But it’s not just living space: the RMH creates a home-like environment, from private bedrooms and pantry space to a giant backyard and a house dog, an eight-year-old Maltese named Sophie.
The top diagnoses the RMH sees include premature birth, cleft palate, and cardiovascular-related health issues, though it extends its services to all types of patients – with wide-open arms. In 2013, the RMH helped more than 1,000 families and 2,800 individuals.
