FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Little Free Library Crawl Set for October 8, 2016. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Corpus Christi, Texas - September 12, 2016
Little Free Libraries are a global phenomenon. The small, front-yard book exchanges number more than 40,000 around the world in 70 countries. They are found all over the United States and also from Iceland, to Tasmania to Pakistan. Now the Little Free Library stewards in Corpus Christi are celebrating the combination of literacy and community building by hosting the first Little Free Library Crawl.
On Saturday, October 8, Little Free Libraries at the following locations will be hosting special events and the community is invited to participate. Events will include book giveaways, family friendly arts and crafts, snacks, storytelling and more!
● 3026 S. Staples Street (All Saints Episcopal Church)
● 529 Naples Street
● 4629 Weiskopf Circle
● 7738 Starnberg Lake Drive
● 3221 Seafoam Drive
● 449 Pennington Drive
People who "crawl" to or visit 3 or more libraries will be put in a drawing for a Half Price Books gift card.
All of the library stewards share a love of books and a desire to promote literacy in the Corpus Christi community. “These little libraries are so much more than boxes of books. They contain the potential to bring joy and a sense of unity to the people in Corpus Christi and the surrounding areas,” said Linda Kring, one of the stewards. “We hope that people will come out on October 8, visit with us, have some fun, and take a minute to celebrate the delight of sharing a really good book with a friend.”
The Little Free Library non-profit organization has been honored by the Library of Congress, the National Book Foundation, and the American Library Association. Reader’s Digest named it one of the “50 Surprising Things We Love About America.” Every year, nearly 10 million books are shared in Little Free Libraries.
