GROW Local South Texas is pleased to announce their September educational workshop, Flower Arranging with Local Flair. GROW Local STX Business Member, Black Tie Roses, will offer their unique tips and tricks for beginning flower arrangers while featuring locally-grown flowers.
“GROW Local South Texas’ main efforts are trying to GROW the local food system, but we celebrate everything that is locally-grown,” said GROW Local South Texas Executive Director Aislynn Campbell. “There are many backyard gardeners whose passion is flowers rather than food and this class is for them.”
The workshop is September’s offering for GROW Local STX’s monthly educational program.
“More flowers means more bees which means more food,” said Campbell. “It’s all part of an interlocking cycle of life.”
The workshop will be led by Black Tie Roses owner and GROW Local STX devotee Robin Reames. Robin was responsible for the beautiful centerpieces and floral decorations at GROW Local South Texas’ Annual Farm to Table Dinner Fundraiser.
“All of the [Farm to Table Dinner] floral arrangements were for sale and they turned into one of the most popular fundraising items of the evening,” said Campbell. “Robin’s arrangements are gorgeous and anyone that comes to this workshop is in for a real treat.”
The workshop is open to everyone. The cost is $5 for GROW Local STX members and $10 for non-members. Attendees can visit the GROW Local STX website to purchase a membership which allows discounts to future classes and assists GROW Local in their many projects including The CC Downtown Farmers’ Market, The Learning Garden and other educational programming.
